Sound Off

on

I was thinking about the point of my blog, and going back to this post as well as this one and thought that, in the spirit of community and consciousness raising, I’d love to hear from my readers. I like the idea of using my little corner of the internet for dialogue about all the minutiae in our lives that can feel overwhelming but too trivial to make a fuss over. So… here’s a chance to sound off!

In my world, I’m a little overwhelmed by the fact that Rachel and Dar are out of town until Tuesday, and I miss them. Additionally, I had intended to use the alone time to get work done but between pet sitting for her parents and being solely responsible for our own pets and housework on top of paid work, I have found myself without nearly as much extra time as I had hoped. It’s already Thursday night and while I managed to make it to all my scheduled appointments, kept 2 dogs and 5 cats alive, and even went to the gym once, I haven’t done a single hour on my internship or on my journal article.

On the other hand, I made an amazing dinner for myself last night on the same day that I hit my 10,000 steps in a day for the first time in weeks, and I made it to the gym today! I may not be getting done everything I had hoped, but I’m functioning like an adult (not the sloppy, let-it-all-fall-apart thing I tend to slide into when Rachel leaves me alone) and holding things together. All in all, not a bad week.

What’s going on in your life this week? What annoyances or small pleasures have you experienced?

  1. Some weeks are just like that and it seems that time runs away whilst we race along trying to catch it πŸ™‚ My week has been busy like that, filled with itty-bitty to do stuff, family, book writing, work related stuff, one visit only to the gym 😦 and a nice day out yesterday. It was my son’s birthday. We had a fun outing and lots of binge eating. Still a bit comatose from all the cake and ice-cream :0

Happy birthday to your son! We had a birthday celebration at work and I definitely overdid it on the cake– I tried to work it off on the elliptical machine with limited success, haha. What is the book you’re working on? I’d love to hear more!

  2. This coming week I’ll be submitting a verse story to a poetry contest and then trying to get my blog back on track from where I left off 3 very short and interesting weeks ago. Keep writing…..

      1. It’s a yearly contest in honor of a poet laureate from my home town, Galway Kinnell. I’m not sure when they will announce, but I know I have to get my act together to make a final revision of the poem before I submit! Blogging 101 has put me a little behind on writing but far ahead on connecting with nice people like you, Thanks.
